2018 Internship at Insight Theatre Company – June 12 – August 7

Internship opportunities include:

  • Master classes with professional actors, directors and designers
  • Hands on theatre production experience working side by side with professional artists in all aspects of production and performance
    • Lighting, Costumes, Set Work
    • Performance
    • Directing
  • Opportunities for private mentoring in acting skills as well as any technical areas of theatre productions
  • Interns receive a stipend for their participation in the internship of $250 to help defray their
    traveling costs.

2018 Season Internship Highlights

  1. Main stage work on The Importance of Being Earnest: July 12-22
    1. Tech week and Performance nights—Interns work with the show as run crew or assistant stage manager or costumes. Two interns will be in cast if possible.
      1. Tech week July 8, 9, 10, 11 ( No Master Classes this week)
      2. Performances July 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22 at the Grandel Theatre
  2. Intern Production
    1. Interns will rehearse, build and perform a Theatre for Young Audiences Show, HONK!
    2. Performances on Aug 3, 4, 5
  3. Participation in Insight Improve Late Nite, June 15 at The .ZACK with Improv Special Artist, Ed Reggi
  4. The opportunity to participate in the Theatre Communication Group National Convention to be hosted in St. Louis June 14, 15, 16 (optional)
  5. The opportunity to participate in The Theatre Crawl (optional). Insight will perform in the Theatre Crawl on June 29th and interns will be invited to participate.
  6. Intern regular schedule (except performance and tech weeks): Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (Monday is usually a day off)

June 12 Tuesday
10:00 – 12:00: Orientation, lunch
1:00 – 2:00: Prep for Theatre Communication Group National Conference (to be held in St. Louis)
2:00 – 4:00: Prep for Improve Nite (June 15)

June 13 Wednesday
10:00 – 12:00: Masterclass: Improv
1:00 – 2:00: Prep for Theatre Communication Group National Conference
2:00 – 4:00: Prep for Improve Nite (June 15)

June 14 Thursday
10:00 – 12:00: Masterclass: Auditioning
1:00 – 4:00: Prep for Theatre Communication Group National Conference
6:00 – 9:00: Conference opens/ Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch, 315 Chestnut St.

June 15 Friday
10:00 – 12:00: Improv prep
1:00 – 2:00: monologue work
Evening: IMPROV performance at The .ZACK.

June 16 Saturday
Theatre Communication Group National Conference (Optional)

June 17 Sunday
[open] No work
Attend Shakespeare Festival performance of Romeo and Juliet (Optional)

Schedule for following weeks

Auditions for Importance of Being Earnest and HONK! and begin work on intern show
10:00 – 12:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: Master classes
1:00 – 4:00 Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: Rehearsals for Intern Show
1:00 – 4:00 Thursday and Saturday: Tech work in shop, as needed

We intend to limit Intern obligation to 24 hours per week.
If students need to take some time away, arrangements will be made if possible.

Insight will host some dinners and events for interns.
